Rush Week at ECU! [Sep. 7th, 2004|01:24 am]

Fraternity Rush Week starts at ECU tomorrow! Good luck to all 17 social GLO's! I'm sure Epsilon Alpha will stand out as one of the best...

"Therefore, let me exhort you to cultivate frienship for its own sake, for it has intrinsic value uncomputed, uncomputable...Let us ask ourselves those questions of wisdom and honor: What shall I do to render myself worthy of a brother's esteem? How shall I promote his interests or win his confidence? And what exertions shall I make to prove to all that I am not a mere cipher in the association to which I belong? Let each one of us ask ourselves these questions and answer them by our actions."
~ David Linton, one of eight founders of Beta Theta Pi

"Friendship and fidelity cannot be cultivated like the barren field by toil and labor; nor like the other qualities of the mind with severe and unwearied application, bt by a ready and willing comingling of hearts with hearts -- of feelings with feelings. Such is friendship in its purity -- constant as time in properity and unchangeable as the decrees of fate in adversity."
~ Charles Henry Hardin, one of eight founders of Beta Theta Pi

"Again, the Beta is distinguishable and distinguished from all other kinds of fraternity men whatsoever by just a little warmer and stronger, just a little tenderer and more enduring fraternity feeling that any of them can attain to."
~ Willis O. Robb, Ohio Wesleyan 1906

I just wanted to take this chance to wish everyone good luck with your Fall Rush events.

This year will prove to be vital for EA, so we're giving it 110%. We'll prove to the other GLO's that we're not to be taken lightly. :)

I read on the main website for Beta that East Carolina won some awards at the Convention! AWESOME!

We received an award for Campus Involvement and the Virginia Tech Award for having the highest GPA compared to our campus's all-men's average.

Snaps to EA and my brothers for working so hard this past year!

So, the 165th Convention is coming up in a few days. Atlanta, GA won't know what hit it. Epsilon Alpha has nine brothers going, not including our president. I'm sure it will be a great experience for all of them. Unfortunately, thanks to the GMAT, I could not afford to go, but I hope to go next year when it's in Arizona (I think).

Reverence for the stars... [Jun. 18th, 2004|09:14 am]

So...Epsilon Alpha is a little spread out this summer.

We had originally planned to petition for our charter at the upcoming convention in Atlanta. After discussion with some "higher ups", we decided that it wouldn't be a good idea. So, we'll work really hard this year to beef up our credentials and knock their socks off next year.

Jonathan had a really good time at UIFI last month. Lee and Don had a great time at Insititute, and Adam and Jonathan are leaving for Inst today.

Now that some of us are alumni, we might try to organize some sort of Alumni Association...especially since there's not one anywhere in NC that I can find. That, of course, will take alot of work and dedication by some of our alumni (old and new).

Our IFC is changing the format of week-long formal rush for next year. They'll be following suit with NPHC. All the interested guys will have to register with IFC for formal rush. For the first two days, the guys will have 20 minutes at each house. For the remaining days, they will be able to visit whomever they wish. No informal rush will allowed, I think. During all the freshmen orientations this summer, the Greek councils are having tables at the Organization Fair in an attempt to increase the number of rushees. Supposedly, the people there are supposed to be "unaffiliated" while discussing it with incoming students. But, I hear stories of guys telling the students what fraternity they are in...which is quite dirty of them.

Well...sorry, just had to get a few of things out of my head.

What up guys,

My name is Greg Coffman and I am a Beta out in Tuscon, Arizona, where the temperature is way hotter than the women (for the most part). I am number 582 on the roll of the Delta Beta chapter. I would like to take the time to thank ECUJACOB for setting this thing up. If new members to this community get a chance to send any kind of correspondance to him, you'll know that Jacob is a solid guy and a good Beta.

Since this is a place to exchange all things Beta, I thought that I would sned you guys a verse from our Phi Delta Theta song. If you have heard it before than I appologize, if you havent, put it to memory and shock your friends at the next initiation.

I wish I was a hoolahoop
around a Pi Phi's waste,
Cause everytime I'd go around
I'd get another taste.

My mother was a hooker,
My sister was a dyke,
I rather f?*& a Fiji sheep
than be a F?*&ing Pike

yeah, they are crude, I know. But, I hope you all enjoy, and I am always interested to hear others.

in ~kai~
